Valor‘s recent report explored anime streaming habits in Brazil and overseas, featuring an interview with Crunchyroll marketing director Roberta Fraissat on its users’ streaming habits. She revealed that 85% of its subscribers are Gen Y and Gen Z, adding, “More than half of them watch anime during the week; their favorite time is Sunday at 9 p.m.“
“In the pre-Internet era, consumption habits were slower,” she said, adding, “Today, people consume multiple types of content simultaneously.” The report added that Crunchyroll sees Brazil as one of its largest anime markets alongside India. CEO Rahul Purini recently identified India, Brazil, and Mexico as emerging markets in an interview with Forbes, reiterating the company’s aim to produce Japanese-style anime using local stories.

Data-curious fans may also be interested in MyAnimeList’s recent disclosure. It shared that the platform was roughly 70% male and 30% female, with 90% of users under 34 years old. 20% of its 19.5 million users are from the United States. MyAnimeList also revealed that Re:ZERO Season 3’s fanbase was 87.6% male, significantly above the (also male-majority) From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! and Zenshu.
